1925 D Lincoln Wheat Cent Mint Error - Retained Cud 02r

Found this one last night in a bag of circulated wheats. This example is pretty worn down but I've always liked it as it has a shark-tooth shape unlike most of the Retained Cuds near the wheat stalks. Eventually this piece fell out and the die becomes cud-01R.

Nice investigation with such a worn specimen. It actually has a very nice appeal for a worn coin.

I would almost say it was a full Cud that got worn down, but the obverse side shows no sign of any weakness. So, yes a nice Retained Cud it must be. Nice find!

Thanks! And the lack of obverse weakness isn't the only sign this is a Retained Cud. Note the details of the wheat withing the perimeter of the break. If the piece were fully missing, there would be no details in there.
