Coin World had an article on the notching. Apparently, they move it each year - 2021 at 6 o'clock, 2022 at 7 o'clock, 2023 at 3 o'clock.
NGC has an article on the 2023 counterfeit. I don't think I would be able to spot it. The differences are more subtle but the weight and thickness are off.
I would be wary of jumping to authenticity conclusions about your suspected DDOASE.
The security notch in 2022 was at 7 o'clock in, moved from 6 o'clock in 2021. They move them every year and if yours is at 6 that would be a red flag.
Overall, the font on Liberty looks too large and too flat. It's distinctly different from the other example, and they should be identical.
There is a lot of fine detail missing on the eagle, particularly on the feet. The DDOASE has almost completely smooth feet and talons, the head seems smoother than it should be and the grasped stick looks far less rough than I would expect.
The eagles right leg looks striped rather than dimpled by feathers.
Lack of magnetic attraction only works as a diagnostic some of the time. A silver plated copper nickel alloy, for instance, won't attract a magnet either.
Weight should be very precise to specs, as will thickness and diameter.
It's very difficult with great photos to make this kind of determination but I'm skeptical of this one.
Don't trust the missing reed on edge. Chinese fakes are already doing that. It's a weak security feature, easy to copy. The security features on Maple Leafs and Britannia are much better. Did you try a ping test? Silver eagles and other coins have a specific sound when tapped on the edge. A lot of fakes sound different.
The channel below, Sound Money Metals has videos about ping test, he sells a ping tester. Here is short sample, check out his more in-depth videos.
I've never tried a ping test and I'll give it a try. Another indicator I found that it is fake is when I weighed it on a small scale. The normal one weighed 31.24 grams and the fake one weighed 32.49 grams. I'm convinced it's a fake Silver Dollar now.
Curiosity got to me and I ordered a fake Chinese one from ebay for $1, I want to see how close to the real thing they are. When it arrives (probably 2 months) I might make something like a keychain or belt buckle with it.
