I looked at a bunch of 1987 Lincoln cents and I could not come up with an l in Liberty on the rim of the coin. Is this normal and if it is how come there's not more of them out there. thanks people

Looks like a Ridge Ring forming and the L is on the left side of it.

a very nice, well defined Ridge Ring it is too.

But once someone else posts on a topic, you can no longer delete it. (Only a Mod can), and I see no reason to do so on this one, it is a great teaching aid.

I could be wrong, but this does not look like a typical Ridge Ring and then there is what is going on with the opposing rim.
