I have been fortunate enough to acquire a collection dump of silver dimes or half dollars about every other month during the past 12 months. Like other CRHs, my pickings are very slim between these happy events.

Today I found 35 40% Kennedy half dollars (~5.15 oz of silver) in 14 customer-wrapped rolls I acquired at a local branch I visit every week or so. Initially the teller told me that she didn't have any half dollars (her usual response). But a bank official -- who fortunately was standing next to her -- told me the teller didn't know that "a while back" a customer had cashed in a large number of half dollar rolls. I told her I would purchase all of them.

When she brought them from the vault in a tray, I could see that several rolls were in old-fashioned wrappers (a good sign). But most of those rolls contained only bicentennial half dollars. However, each of the other rolls contained two or more silver coins -- and a lot more bicentennial coins. No Walking Liberty, Benjamin Franklin, or 1964 Kennedy half dollars, however.

As usual, I felt a bit sad as I opened the last few rolls of this collection dump because I wanted the silver coins to keep coming!

14 rolls seems to be a magic number for dumps. It was for me too.

I just dumped about that number of bicentennial half dollars, but made double-sure that I wasn't letting go of any silver!

Congrats on picking up so much silver at face value.
