Hello all. I have read many post about this same cion. They all seem to be dated 1986 D. The one I have is also that date. The penny I have is 2.54 grams but also measures 7.75 inches in diameter. This is my first post so hope the photos upload correctly. Any thoughts from the experts. Thank you. Mike

It looks like the copper plating was taken off .. Most likely a chemistry glass.

To CCF! I'm suspecting that the plating was taken off.

Thanks for the reply. Your thoughts on the larger diameter and why are all these you see dated 1986 D? Thanks again. Mike

Much post-strike damage. May have been submerged for some time in a pond or poorly maintained fountain.

Curious.... but also measures 7.75 inches in diameter. I assume this is a typo?

If you meant to say 0.75 diameter, that would be the exact standard for your cent.

You certainly could not think your coin would be over 7 inches diameter.

to the CCF and Copper has been removed somehow. This happens on all different years from 82 on.

This could be what we call a ' Texas Cent' they tend to be slightly larger than normal because they have been altered in order to remove the copper plating.
