Not a column, rather a bay between the columns. Yes, that's exactly what that is.

Nice find, Numismo, could you post a picture of the reverse, I would like to see if the clash occured on the reverse also,To some degree I usually see the clash on the reverse also. Just if you can, Thanks, Mike...
