Looks like 8! I only care if they have a Canadian coin or Canada in the legend. There are 13 in the catalogue at this point that meet that test.

I look at a lot of Encased Coin listings and I have never seen this one before. There are Canadian issuers with Indian Head cents as well. There are not too many though. I suspect that they were made in the United States. That New Zealand merchant went to a lot of trouble to get these made!

Encased Cents were first created in 1901 for the Pan American Exposition in Buffalo. They proved to be very popular and there are many versions of 1901 Encased Cents relating to the exposition. Encased Coins with earlier dates were made after 1901 using old coins. Or someone has put an older coin in after-the-fact.

Canada still had large cents at the time. So from 1901 until 1920 a Canadian issuer has to find a supplier who could make rings for large cents or had to use Indian Head cents.

Maybe I should start a topic for Encased Cents!
