So I have been coin roll hunting for nickels for some finds now, trying to fill in some of my older slots in my album until I'm able to buy them uncirculated.

What I have found so far from searching through rolls
1939
1940
1940 D
1941
1942 - P War Nickel
1946
1946 D
1947
1947 S
1948
1948 D
1949 S

Basically that's it for older 30's and 40's nickels. I most certainly have not found 1950 in any mint mark.

How do people find things so easily in coin roll hunting? I have gone through many rolls, and I believe three boxes, and this is basically what I've found.

Yes, it's a function time and volume. I've gone through thousands of loose nickel rolls--both customer and commercially wrapped rolls--over several decades. From that, I've filled two Dansco albums. Sigh, it does take considerable time and working through mountains of coins...

Your 1949-S is a nice semi-key find. With only 9.7 million minted it is the #8 lowest mintage of the entire Jefferson nickel series.

There is no 'easy' - it takes patience and a large volume of coins searched.

In 2015 I completed my roll searching for the entire circulation strike Jefferson nickel series - and it took me 320,800 coins searched to do so.

Pretty nice finds. It does take time to find what you're looking for.

I have been making an attempt to complete the 1938-1961 Jefferson nickel set and am currently at 260,000 nickels searched. I am still looking for the 1939-D and the 1943-D. I started a YouTube channel nickelguy88 documenting the journey and provide a visual of how to make your time more efficient when conducting a nickel hunt. Time is not on my side right now, but I am hoping to plow through 40,000 nickels over Christmas so that I can be at 300,000 nickels searched.
