So I'm not sure how I even missed this 1936 Wheat penny I have....and I've definitely never seen one like this in any year....what's with the color? Is it environmental?

It's from environmental damage. It's been exposed to the elements. Maybe buried at one time?

Agree, likely a dug coin. In the future, rather than just asking for opinions, try offering your own thoughts first.

Dug coin that someone tried to clean with Vinegar. Hopefully they learned that acids and copper are a bad combination.
I swing a metal detector and have a knack for finding dirty old coins.
