I don't really know anything about the coin other than what I found online, which may be totally untrue. Any help would be much appreciated.

It is a modern cast copy of a shekel or half shekel of Tyre.

Not doubting you a bit Root River Mint, but how does one tell if it's a modern cast or legit? Are there details, or lack there of, that tells you that is a modern cast?

@aar, first welcome to CCF. Second, one good way to look for a cast coin is to view the edge. Any chance of you taking a picture of this and adding it to this thread? Thx.

Happy to confirm this as a replica/fake.

Some indicators:
- An overall "mushy" appearance, which is quite different to any normal naturally occurring corrosion. Particularly telling is the selectivity of the "mushiness": the lettering is very blurry and indistinct, but the eagle's features are sharp and clear.
- A "very commonly faked type". The Shekel of Tyre is also known as a "Thirty Pieces of Silver" coin, and thus qualifies as "Biblical".
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis
