warjag Valued Member United States 198 Posts	Posted 05/14/2009 12:28 pm Some of these coins will say 1967 and be identical to 1970 on. Say a "New Pence 10" are both 11 grams. Does the 1967 spend in GB? If not how does a store tell the difference? This must be a nightmare! Or if it says New Pence that means the date of 1970 does not hold true? kena Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 1683 Posts	Posted 05/14/2009 2:45 pm The large size 10 pence was made weighing 11.31 grams and had a diameter of 28.50 mm for circulation from 1968 to 1971, 1973 to 1977, and 1979 to 1981. In 1992, a smaller size was made weighing 6.50 grams and with a diameter of 24.50 mm. A 1967 10 pence does not exist as far as I know...that coin was a florin (2 shillings) and was the same size as the large 10 pence. So at the start both were equal value. Both the florin and large 10 pence were withdrawn in 1993. Report this Post to the Staff
