I would think that this line along the back of Lincoln's ear was a scratch, but given that it follows the outline of the ear, I'm not sure. What do you think this is?

I can't say what it is....other than it's a lovely zincoln and would be a nice hole filler.

Definitely a crack. The 90's were common for cracking in these areas, above and behind the ear. Scroll down to the 90's coins and see the different RIDB's. Your coin came from an earlier die though, did not quite make it to a break.
