Hi
I have a gold 1915 half sovereign with some texta pen marks on it. Is it possible to remove these without devaluation of the coin. To me and I am a novice it seems in fair condition and as such an approximate valuation please? I am in Australia.
Many thanks
Tony

Rynot55, your best bet would be a soak in pure acetone. That should remove the ink and will not harm your sovereign in any way.

As to value, 1915 is not a scarce date in any of the mints and this one is not in stunning condition, so value is straight bullion.
There is a mintmark I think on the ground below the dragon, but I can't make out which it is. M for Melbourne I suspect. Does not affect the value.
