Close-ups show what looks to be a rather poor re-plating job with all those bits of debris trapped under the plating.

In my mind, definitely plated/reprocessed.

Definitely reprocessed (plated) - they are now worth just one cent each - in reality plating a coin is considered damage.

The coins are replated/reprocessed. I advise caution when buying coins in Capital holders as they are often messed with to make them all shine equally.

Thanks for the replies, that's what I was assuming when I looked at em under a loupe! But wouldn't that affect the weight more?

Steel cents do come in at 2.7 correct? I'm not arguing that the coins aren't plated, but I'm unfamiliar with the process, I haven't the foggiest what weight that typically adds to a coin

For your future reference, unplaited 43s will never be this shiny. They have a duller surface.

CCB420, I don't have any empirical evidence but I'm guessing 10 or 20 milligrams. Not really enough to push the weight outside of the normal mint tolerance range.

Ah ok, I just assumed replating would add more weight;! So next question, is there any substance that will strip the playing material

And I asked this same question about the comical fake '44 posted by another member, but what could/would a person gain by plating a '43 steel cent, to just make it look like a '43 steel cent? I mean I could see an advantage to plating a '44 to look like a '43, but why replate a '43 to look like a '43? Just for the luster?
