Sullivan Numismatics - PCGS 2000 dated 50c aluminum feeder finger, made for the U.S. Mint by Arrow tool company in the year 2000. The Aluminum feeder finger is the exact type used by the U.S. mint during this era, and examples with the same anodized aluminum are found struck by various denominations of U.S. coins. This is the only 50c size feeder finger of this metal and type that we know of. Unique.

Still a bit of interesting mint equipment.

Why did PCGS slab this item?
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

If I'm reading this topic right, the error is that the "tool" is made out of the wrong metal, "This is the only 50c size feeder finger of this metal and type that we know of. Unique."

Unique? Not in my eyes...I say Big deal...sorry just how I feel

Maybe unique but I agree with the second part. Definitely a limited collectors niche.

Don't see bags of these gathering dust in a coin shop. Unique piece for a niche market. 'Big Deal' status is in the eyes of the individual collector--perhaps there's a bit of fun factor here...

If they're going to slab bits of the coin presses, why not slab everything and anything even remotely related to minting, no matter how tangential?

I might crack this one out and submit it to BUGS, as soon as I hear back from mrwiskers.
