2026 American Eagle One Ounce Gold Enhanced Uncirculated Coin Available May 28
2026, May 28
US Mint - The United States Mint (Mint) will begin accepting orders for the 2026 American Eagle One Ounce Gold Enhanced Uncirculated Coin beginning on May 28 at noon EDT. For the first 24 hours following the on-sale time, orders will be limited to one coin per household. The mintage is limited to 7,500 units.
Struck at the Mint's West Point facility and bearing the "W" mint mark, this collectible coin features a meticulously detailed eagle on the reverse (tails), showcasing the artistry and precision for which the American Eagle series is renowned. The obverse (heads) design draws from the original bronze cast of Augustus Saint-Gaudens' iconic Liberty, with legacy details carefully restored and refined to enhance elements such as the U.S. Capitol Building, stars, torch, and sun rays.
In honor of the Nation's 250th anniversary, this special one-year-only issue of the American Eagle Gold Coin is distinguished by the dual dates "1776 ~ 2026" and a unique Liberty Bell privy mark inscribed with the numeral "250," marking this historic milestone.
Pricing for American Eagle Gold Coins is determined in accordance with the United States Mint's Pricing Policy for numismatic gold products.
Please pardon my ignorance, but what makes this issue "enhanced?" Also, given limited funds, why might I choose this coin over the proof version. Is there a feeling this issue is going to sell-out?

If you'd Google up "Enhanced Uncirculated silver eagle", it will give a few of a known example Enhanced Uncirculated coin. There have be others. There was also the Enhanced Reverse proofs (W and S mint marks) in 2019. But the field of the coin will be similar to an Uncirculated version, and the design details will be a combination of proof and matte finished that "enhance" the coin design. I don't think we'll really know the appearance until they start hitting collector's hands.
I'd say that yes the feeling this will sell out quickly. First day maximum, I wouldn't doubt it'll last 1/2 hour or less.
As far as why but it, it's a collectors call and also a good amount of people will assume a high resale value if it sells out quickly.
I guess it should only affect the price plus or minus $50, but when does the mint use that closing price on LBMA to set the price? The closing price today? Generally seems flat or falling right now. Getting anxious, only about 27 hours away!
