This is a recent pickup that I'm really pleased with. It's a surprisingly weighty coin in hand at 10g It's a 1632 1 Teston from the rule of Urban VIII - with my favourite heraldic device. If I was ever to specialise on one Papal States ruler I think it would be this one. (ie, if I win the lottery) VRBAN . VIII . PONT. MAX Papal heraldic achievement S * PETRVS * ALMA * ROMA Saint Peter seated holding keys There are two main varieties of this coin with different obverse legends and shield shape - this one being the semi-oval one.

Quote: nice one Bacc - heavy coin, how big is it? It's nearly 30mm. Quite different from most of the Quattrino's, Giulio's, Deniers etc that I have,

Here's another teston that tdziemia helped me id in another thread: It's from the time of Pope Alexander VII, 1655-1667. A Muntoni 10 variant match, if I remember right from tdziemia.

Nice one jdsstrat. That one is in fantastic condition. I assume it's a testone and a silver coin?
