And he's quite young too at only 69.
Indeed. Younger than my parents, which feels... weird.

Not just an American Pope. A Chicago Pope.

He was raised in Dolton, just a few miles from where I was born.

I was going to post this one which does fall under the Papal States category (at least Numista categorise it as such) though isn't issued by a Pope. Hopefully it is within the scope of the thread...
Interesting example!

I have a few I missed to add.

This is my only coin from Gregory XIII (1572-1585)

It has the unusual denomination of "2 Sols Parisis" and again is styled after a French feudal coin.

Wait! The Pope is 'only 69 years old?!? wow, he is only my senior by 6 years - I don't know if he is young or I'm feeling that old.. (oh how the confusion can set in so easily.. )

Another super interesting contribution. It seems Gregory was engaged in "dueling alphabet" with Henry III, the incumbent French king, whose analagous coin looked like this:

And went to college just a couple of miles from where I (later) lived 22 years and raised my kids.

Another Clement VIII douzain, minted at Avignon, 1595, minus the counterstamp on the coin that Bacchus2 shared.

That's really interesting - definitely aligned designs. Maybe to make them more acceptable or even understandable by the local populace?
