Help To ID Cooper Countermarked Coin

Countermarks have been used since the Greeks and Romans. Some ancient coins have Roman numerals designating the military legions like X, LX, etc. There are books about Roman countermarks and countermarks on modern coins. Sap Moderator Australia 16805 Posts	Posted 04/02/2025 6:11 pm In this case, the large "VI" in a circle with another mark inside the circle too, is indicative of Spanish coppers from the 1600s. The "VI" would be the new denomination, 6 maravedi. Example on VCoins.
