Good morning all. I have had this dime for many years and just noticed the die cracks. One by the T in liberty and one that runs though the 1 in 1929. Dose this coin have much value? Thanks. Mike

Hey Mike, I wouldn't say it adds no value, but if you go to sell it... you do need to keep your day job. Here is a die crack of the same year that added maybe $50 to $55 dollars if ebay's Terapeaks sales data truely can be trusted, which I am highly suspect of as a side point. However it narrows what value it could add. I have this version I was going to test the waters with at maybe $100 and change. Similar condition to the sale but has the date crack and various points of Machine Doubling. I by no means am an expert or someone who's opinion should be accepted without double checking, but data is data that should be verified in general. Cheers.

A die crack is interesting from a numismatic point of view. Generally, I don't think it adds meaningful value to a coin unless it's a die break or a rim-to-rim crack, which some folks enjoy collecting. On Mercury dimes, the tip of the feathers is a fairly common place for a die to crack. Every coin design has its own particular weak spots on the die surface.
