Graded Slab Collections - What Sets Off Your Ocd

I use blanks pages but you can get pages printed with custom text that you provide.

They are $6.95 each

I just noticed another issue while browsing...one display of the same type coin shows the obverse and the other shows the reverse...ugh

I'm sure you can request the Reverse to show on the face of the slab, but in the case of a slab why does that matter?

Most of the time you are handling them


I'm hoping that NGC will do a custom text format for all of the coins I send in to be reholder(ed)

I would love the have a line for the mintage

Here is an example of the format I would like for the entire set

So I sent NGC a message via Facebook because their web site contact form isn't working

I basically asked about reholder-ing

I wanted to know if was possible to get same basic label information for all of the coins I send in for reholder-ing

And if possible to add a "Total Mintage - XXX,XXX" line

This was part of their response

"we do not offer custom formatting for coins submitted to us, as we need to keep the same standard formatting across submissions we receive."

One thing I have realized is that neither PCGS nor NGC are anywhere close to being consistent with how they format the text on their labels

Any given line could be all caps or sometimes they capitalize the first letter of each word and sometime the use sentence case

Sometimes the same line is bold and sometimes it's not

I have seen the same line 7 different ways depending on the coin

I'm surprised they don't add italic words into the mix

Plus some coins like the 2021 Delaware Crossing Quarter have up to 6 lines of text

All I want is the coin nomenclature, grade and registration number on the standard brown label

I decided it might be best to call and after talking with a rep she has confirmed that what I want "might" be possible

I got a bad feeling about this

I'm surprized the mintage numers aren't already part of the grading information




Am I in the minority when it comes to the way companies format the labels?

I like just the basic info (nomenclature and grade) on a basic label like the example of the 1995-P I posted above


But do most collectors like a lot of info on the label to add context to the origins of the coin?




I decided if I can get the basic info on the coin label I will add a printed "check list" to the inside of the lid for any special attribute the coin has and the total mintage

Such as "First West Point Proof Silver Eagle" and "Total Mintage - 30,000"

Set it up as a table that corresponds to slab location

I created the "Lid List" last night, this is just the draft list, once it's complete I'll print it on thicker gray marbled card stock

This is for additional info that I don't want or can't get on the NGC slab labels

I just decided to add a 1776-1976 silver proof set to this collection

I agree, slabbed coins can be a challenge to photograph.
