Welcome, photocoin - a nice 7070 there to be sure.

I am curious why you are selling. Is this a case of this is your 7070 but if the price is right, sell? Or are you building this 7070 specifically to sell as a set? Why not break the set and sell the coins individually? I think you would do much better and you clearly have the experience to do it well. Heck, there's at least a couple of coins I wouldn't mind having, that's for sure.

I like your upgrades, especially the Braided Hair LC and Lincoln, but assuming you will crack the slabs, I think you end up back at not getting full value back out for these coins.

Photocoin!

It's fantastic that you are available for questions.

You appear to be selling to be a great set of coins!

Congratulations on your 7070 set and your ebay seller honesty! Believe me, we appreciate it!

To answer the question about why I am selling, the main reason is I want to remodel our kitchen! I also would like to start a new one from scratch and slowly build a problem free set using certified coins only. As far as selling seperately...I cant bear to cannabilize it, to me the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Is there no way to quote a previous poster in order to show which person you are replying to?

Well this is a reply to KenKat about slab cracking.

Ken, yes, I crack them out, then I take the label from the slab and stick it to the reverse side of the page on the 7070.

Its just the only way you can get them into a 7070.

I wisll share with you all a story of the "with motto" Seated dollar I originally bought for this set. I bought this coin on ebay:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3593...dbe258_o.jpg

Looked ok in the pic. And its in PCGS plastic.

I got it and immediately noticed what might be a rim ding at 7 O'clock. But, it was prettty much obscured by the slab. I cracked it out and this is what I had.

So my faith has been shaken a little in TPG's after that experience. And your point about cracking it out is especially true in that case. I lost money big time when it came out.

I went ahead and put it in my set and it bothered me every time I looked at it. So, I ended up making an even trade for the one in their now which is not nearly as nice, but it is a better date and at least I dont cringe when I see it.

Photocoin, I cannot believe that Seated dollar was in a PCGS holder with that kind of damage. Did you check the registration number with PCGS? The holder looks genuine to me, but who knows? PCGS is supposed to have better quality control than that.

Ima be honest, that coin doesn't even look real in the picture with the rim ding to me, looks like you can see a seam where they put the coin together. I would question the authenticity of the slab by this alone if it were me. But I am going from pictures alone and not seeing the coin in person or anything so picture anomaly could be what I am seeing

That was the first 7070 I had ever seen and when I saw that one I knew I had to start one myself. I have tried to find some better coins than some in that album that I thought didn't fit in that album with the rest of the coins so I decided to just go with problem free AU and above coins in mine to make the coins look better uniformed together than that set looks to me. You can click here My Dansco7070 to see what I have done so far and to see what I was talking about with problem free AU and better coins looking more uniformed together than just any coin any grade beside a real high graded coin

You can do a quote - it's the document with the red arrow on the Reply to Post page. I usually cut the text, then hit the Reply link, then the quote icon, then paste the text. A little clunky - it would be nice if there was a quote link directly on the post you wanted to quote, but...alas.

Re: kitchen - funny how life crops up sometimes. I also understand that you don't want to break the 7070 up - it would kill me to do that to mine. Although I don't think I'd be adding any new coins if I was looking to sell - especially not certified coins that I am cracking out. I've cracked a few coins for my 7070 also - I like grading services but don't like my coins to stay in slabs either for the most part. Hope you can figure out a way to keep it - or at least a couple of your favorites from it.

I've seen the 7070 on the verizon.net site you linked. All I can say is

Ken

Since Bryan has hijacked another thread to brag about his 7070, I will just brag about mine, although I don't have any current pictures of the whole album. There are a total of 86 holes in the 7070 if you include the gold page. 36 of my coins are uncirculated plus 12 that are proofs. that makes 50% that are uncirculated or better. I think they look just wonderful next to other coins that are mostly XF-40, but my ultimate goal is to have all a minimum of AU. A work in process for sure. My philosophy for working on this set is to buy the best, problem free coins that I could afford at the time. Many were slabbed and I have pasted the labels in the back cover. I also think my set looks much nicer than the drooly one that Photocoin posted a link to. To date it is the top achievement of my collecting life and I think it is a fine piece of history. So there!

wasn't my intent but I guess I grab ahold of every chance I can get to get people to look at this thing even though it has hit a dry spell. I was actually trying to show him in comparison of what I was talking about with the minimum grade being AU so the coins look better together instead of the few coins in that one set he posted a link to that has like maybe VF-XF coins beside those other super high grade/proof coins, which in my opinion takes away from the look of the album as a whole. I guess I am hijacking every thread I reply to since I have the link in my signature

Let the record show that I think all three of these 7070 collections are worthy of praise!
