I have this growing pile of CPG varieties where I have reservations about MS/AU or cleaning. ANACS is offering a bulk submission discount at our local coin expo tomorrow. What do you guys think about submitting the coins to ANACS purely for grading? Are they a good proxy for how PCGS would grade a coin? My big hesitation with PCGS is that I don't want to waste the membership fee, attribution expense, and long wait time on coins that would never make the cut. $14/coin for an expert grading seems like a comparative great deal.

I do have other coins that I am also considering for ANACS submission. Some are minor varieties that are not attributed by PCGS or NGC. I do understand, however, that variety attribution would slow down the entire process.

ANACS is absolutely acceptable, plus they are
very accurate and turnaround time is about 5 to 6
Weeks .

Agree. ANACS would be a good choice for what you have in mind.

Ok, thanks for the advice. =)

Do they actually help first time submitters pack up coins at shows, or are you meant to arrive with paperwork and a correctly packed submission?

The rep will help you fill out the paperwork. That's why they are there. But, they get quite busy at one and two day shows.

Also, ANACS will authenticate more CPG varieties than NGC or PCGS, and given the small premiums for most, might be a decent end-point.

ANACS would probably be my choice because of their ever presence at coin shows.
