https://blog.ma-shops.com/the-last-stuart-monarch/Anne was born in 1665 to James, Duke of York (later King James II of England) and his first wife, Anne Hyde.
Anne became queen in 1702. As queen, Anne was responsible for a pivotal moment in British history: the Act of Union in 1707, which united England and Scotland into the Kingdom of Great Britain.
She became the first monarch to rule this new country.
After a reign of twelve years, she died on 1 August 1714 at the age of 49.
With none of her children alive, the throne passed to her distant cousin George I of the House of Hanover, beginning a new royal dynasty.
And so Queen Anne's death marked not only the end of her life, but also the end of the Stuart dynasty.
