The 1981-S Type 2 Proof graded PF70DCAM is around $400 but the PF69DCAM is about $100. But you wouldn't necessarily have to buy a graded coin since you're going to be cracking it out. I'm seeing raw ones for around $50. Or you could even try to snatch one up on auction. Or your LCS may have it cheaper than ebay.

Thank you. I'm definitely going to shop around.

jbuck, my OCD continues in regards to how to organize my collection... I just noticed, if I did use album 7180, and added an extra page for Sacagawea dollars, I could fit the entire collection of SBA dollars and business strike Sac's from 2000-2008 within three pages, if I chose to forgo Sacagawea proofs. This would be the "standard" Sac dollars, and not including the Native American dollars from 2009 and newer. There are also satin finish coins starting in 2005... But meh. I don't know if these would be worthwhile in considering a coin that is a "must have" to complete a collection.

I got both albums from Amazon, and I haven't returned one yet. You said the smallest album can accommodate four pages, right? I'd have to try it. It's weird, when adding the third page to my Buffalo nickel album, which was initially only two pages, it barely seemed like there was room for a fourth.

When ever I buy a Dansco album, I Always buy a 81xx series (if available and were produced) as I and a completist and I need to have the proofs in with the Business strike coins.

There are plenty of sites where you can buy Dansco, you just need to keep searching to get the best deal. I keep an eye on the Dansco site to be kept informed when new ones are getting made and released so I can shop around to get them as they come out too.

Correct. At least all the ones I have are four pages.

The smallest is the 5/8 inch binder...

This 5/8 inch binder (Dansco model 6421) is designed to hold two to four pages.

Thanks, jbuck. I'll take a look into it. Honestly, a three page album doesn't bother me as nearly as a two page album. My buffalo/liberty nickel has worked out perfectly, which consists of three pages.

I was able to pick up an NGC 1981-S PF70 Ultra Cameo (DCAM) for $329 and an ICG 1981-S MS66+ for $341, recently...

I prefer them in an NGC holder, will send in the ICG coin for reholder to NGC, hopefully keep the grade...

Great start to your SBA set, Humanist! It's a fun, short series that is so common you can afford to be picky in choosing gem examples. Keep up the good work!

Thank you. And very true. I am still mulling over how I want to organize the set, and whether I want to go for the expensive type ll proof from 1981 eventually or not. Personally, I'd rather spend the money elsewhere. I might perhaps plug the hole with a duplicate type I 81 proof or throw something else in. I'm sure I can acquire the 1979 type II proof, though. That isn't as expensive.

I don't know... Maybe. I saw one today on ebay for around 60. It was a PF65.

I didn't particularly care for the way it looked, though.
