What year was it where there was an error with the proof sets?

I want to say it was in the mid-2010s and it had to do with the Kennedy half dollar having a weird finish or something?

Can someone please help me jog my memory?

Are you sure you're asking about an error, rather than a variety?

An error is a one-time machining malfunction event that can happen on any coin. A variety is a die related occurrence that happens exactly the same on all coins struck by that die.

You are thinking of the special 2018-S reverse proof sets. In some of them, the Kennedy half dollar had a "light" reverse proof finish.

Are you thinking of the Kennedy half dollar from 1998-S 90% silver with a Matte Finish?
