My apologies if this is a thread that has been made before! I've been thinking lately about my favorite coins and coin related scenarios. What is your favorite designed coin? What is your favorite set/series/coin to collect? I think personally my favorite coin design is the Susan B Anthony dollar. They are slept on a lot, but I don't know, there's just something about them I really like. Ironically enough, for as much as I enjoy SBA dollars, I also really like pre-2006 Jefferson nickels for collectability. Besides some of the commemorative quarters, this is probably the easiest set to complete IMO. I think due to this and it being my first real coin set I completed, it holds a special place for me. I do like nickels in general, though. Anyone else?

Quote:I also really like pre-2006 Jefferson nickels for collectability. I wholeheartedly agree. I got my CCF start over 16 years ago collecting Jefferson nickels from bank rolls. I completed the entire circulation strike set after searching through 394,000 nickels. IMO the Jefferson nickel remains the only current circulation strike set one can reasonable expect to be able to complete CRH. It will take some patience though.

I like all of the 1916-1945 Coinage, With my favorite design being the Standing Liberty quarter. Wonderful coins when they are high grade. As to my favorite series to collect... the next one I recently started a Commemorative type set & really enjoy the variety of designs, with recent additions of an albany, new rochelle, & bay bridge.
I've been collecting for a couple years... Favorite Coin's are Standing Liberty quarters, Working on my type set | Coffee, Corvettes, Coins & the CCF what could be better?

It's a wonderful set to pursue although a few of the issues get pricy in gem state. I wish you the best of enjoyment with the pursuit. I happen to have completed two classic silver commemorative type sets - both in PCGS problem free holders. One is MS/CAC and the other is honestly circulated.

Yes there are quite a few ie the Spanish trail & hawaiian will most likely the hardest to track down without having to part with some gold. Then of course a handful in the 500+ range. Much appreciated! A circulated set is a very neat idea.

For me, it's probably the Large Cent series. They can get pretty pricey, but they're fun to collect.
Errers and Varietys.

Quote: What is your favorite designed coin? Favorite design would be the Mercury dime. Mostly because it's different than all the dead president coins from when I was a kid. Quote: What is your favorite set/series/coin to collect? Favorite series would be the Ike dollar because that is what I remember as a kid. It was something special to get a big dollar, plus they don't make them like that anymore. Runner ups would be the Buffalo nickel and the Franklin halves.

Might be a weird one, but my favorite designed coin has to be the Eisenhower dollar. I love the Apollo 11 tribute on the reverse of the coin. My favorite to collect is wheat cents. Not sure why, I've just always been a fan of the penny.
