Here is a thin 15 mm counter or token in brass.

Unidentified-Counter-Or-Token-With-Indian-Head

When I acquired it, I thought it might be a US Civil War token in spite of no date under the head because I misread the top line on the reverse as JULY.

I now think the top line reads JJ "vague rounded L shaped squiggle V.
The second line reads VL, although the V has a short stalk.

Ideas, please?
