The coins are "mis-shapen" due to damage, not a mint error.
As for the "writing on the edges is the wrong way around", this is normal for coins issued 2008-2015.
Numista reference for comparison. They changed it when they changed the portraits from the IRB design to the JC design, and your coins definitely have the IRB portraits. So I suspect that while "2008" might be a correct reading for that coin, "2017" is the wrong reading for the second coin and it's actually something like 2012.
