The left is large the right is just a reference both 1941-s nickels

Both photos show a small S.
It's not just the size, but the design of the two S mintmarks from 1941 are different.

The serifs are a giveaway for the small S. A quick visual guide is that the small S is about the same height as the building foundation under it. The large S is much taller.
