Me thinks you should be all over a 4 figure offer . Personally just cannot see anyone paying much for a 69 Brown , no matter how nicely toned . The only reason it is "RARE" so few submitted , but then Why would you ?

Good luck JOE with your auction. Now it's wait and see what the money says.

Is this the first time you've seen a Brown go for more than a Red? This GC Auction is crazy; just check ebay for the same coin in PF69 Red.

It's because it's a top pop across all brown Lincoln cents — highest graded brown Lincoln Cent, both proof and business strike.

This sort of toning CAN be produced artificially, but it can also be natural, if you are very lucky. As a collector, that would not worry me too much.
What is critically important is the condition I have artificially produced this sort of toning with MS-60 new coins myself, but patience is required. Just remember that rainbow toning is very delicate, and WILL change eventually, unless the capsule is hermetically sealed.
For me, such coins are easier to sell, but the attractive toning does not add value.

So, what was the winning bid? It doesn't show on the Great Collections website unless you're logged in.

$1150 — not bad! I should have accepted an offer I had that was a little more, but I am totally happy with the result.
