Picked this up a few weeks ago. Gave it a 24-hour acetone soak followed by a 24-hour Verdi-Care soak with a bit of light swabbing during both. How would experts assess the grade/condition of this? Seems to be a really nice coin outside of the corroded areas. Any discernment of a specific variety would be great too of course, no period with 7 strings. How would you value something in this condition but with this level of corrosion.

I'm not sure about the authenticity of your Virgina halfpenny
Looks funny to me.

Well, I was looking for the swf and period for restrikes. Didn't occur to me that a coin with this much natural corrosion could be a fake. But I do notice the rim does not match other examples for sale and it does weigh heavy and is slightly oversized. I appreciate you.

The question now is how do I get a moderator to take down this post. I am convinced it is a fake and no reason for the post to be here anymore cluttering up this fine forum. Unless spotting 1773 Virginia Half Penny fakes and replicas is a thing.

You could hit, "Report to Staff " at the bottom right of your post.
But don't think it will help.
Everyone is here to learn.

Sounds good, and did notice you put a Virginia HP in your profile pic. Nice.
