Jimjumper, that is the awesome lot of variety in coins and banknotes!
I am so glad Santa Claus managed to get it out to you! Do we know much about Allied Military banknotes? I wonder.Wiki does not have much depth info on this matter.
Also, you took photos much better than I did!
Funnily, I told my mum that we better hurry to the CVS cos I found two $10 coupons that expired on the very last day of the year! We did manage to use them up. Phew! By using our membership cards.
She was happy I gifted her two necessary items she needs.
So, that reminds me to wish everyone here on Christmas Exchange a very happy New Year and the best wishes for your new year. May it be blessed with good health, much happiness, a lot of love, peace, heaps of friends and family, and infinite learning/obsession with coins and banknotes, and continued prosperity!
I also want to wish our guy Rrgoodie all of our heartfelt thanks for his AWESOME organizing this annual event!! May his new year be extra special and blessed! #128154;&🙏;;;
As to mcshilling, I am so sorry you feel so strongly about this situation. Perhaps we could chip in and get something lovely for you? I do have something you might be smiling to see? I will ask Rrgoodie about it. I am planning on surprising two members here as well. I think they would be delighted to have them, too.
*I shall say a wee prayer for your wife.* Is there anything else we could do for you as Christmas Exchange members?
I better sign off now so I can rest my darn ankles.

Well, I want to echo Carringa in wishing you all a very happy New Year. And I'd also like to thank Rrgoodie for organizing this Secret Santa. First one I've participated in. Just barely made the 50 post limit to join in. I found it really nice looking for the coins, etc I found over the weeks I looked. I almost was going to wait till closer to the end of January deadline in order to do some more searching. I visited an antique store that was so fascinating. It was full of sections which were areas for various sellers. The building was kind of a central place for many sellers to sell. My grandsons were the ones that wanted to visit it. They all bought Pokemon cards. I found one coin that was pretty cool. That tipped me off that coins are not only to be found in coin stores. All in all, this was a very enjoyable experience. I hope to do it again.

Jerry the plater, I love how you looked for the coins in unlikely places! Hope you will find a sweet spot one day!
Are Pokeman cards still collectible?
I am happy you decided to join us this year!

@carrigna I went into that antique shop because my two grandsons wanted to go in there. It was really cool to see what was in there.
As far as Pokemon cards being collectable, I really don't know at all. But my grandsons really like them and trade with their friends.

Thank you, everyone that has done this, this year and many other years, I enjoyed this! Being a newbie, was not sure what it would be like but enjoyed it. Thank you, Richard for doing this for many years before me stepping in and everyone else involved over the years. mcshilling, I am sorry and cannot imagine what you may be going through.

But I'll keep holding that door open...know what I mean. Sorry to hear about your wife, hoping she'll be back up and out soon. And may I also say Thank You for being a part of CCF.

What has become of manners these days? I care more that the gift I sent was received than receiving mine. I normally get pictures, though not all the time, but each recipient thanked "Santa". Hang in there mcshilling.

I would like to thank all of you for your support and kind words.
Carrigna I'm not looking or expecting anything extra from this post, but a thank you from the recipient would be nice but too late.

Carrigna, the Bible for WWII issues of all nations is "World War II Remembered, history in your hands, a numismatic study." Almost 900 pages! But, it's out of print and used copies are expensive, +$100 at least. I shouldn't tell my secret but try Goodwill on-line for expensive numismatic books. I found a copy there for $36. Here is the cover of the book and the specific info page on the Allied Franc notes. Never mind the pricing, the book is copyright 1995 and way out-of date. I tried to get a good pic of the info page but the book is 2 in's thick and I don't want to stress the spine. The cover I just scanned.

Quote: Check Heritage Auctions...2 words..Holy Shmoly.... Thank you! I thought they had stopped.hence, my question. Jimjumper, what a fascinating tidbit about finding numismatic books! What I meant was: I would like to know more as to why those banknotes were issued whereas the nations we occupied already have their currency. De Gaulle resented the fact they had to use Allied Military francs. Not much information is given on this subject. Will look for this book if I can find it. I am not looking for the valuations. Mcshilling, I perfectly understand your frustration. I just wanted to do something about this situation. Thank you for letting me know. Thank you for your continued participation in this fabulous exchange. Jimtheplater, happy for your grandsons that they have fun with their cards! I suppose it is similar to baseball cards? Thank you for sharing this with us! Lastly, makecents, I am happy you had a great time with us! &

some excellent gifts Jimjumper! I love seeing that old image of the soldiers getting paid. Just look at the leggings they have on - something that Gen. Patton demanded that everyone in his command wear. They kept out the water, Mud, and bugs from getting inside the uniform and boots.

Dearborn. I think they are called Gaiters, not leggings.
