Awesome ASE gift, mcshilling - your Secret Santa was incredibly generous!
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Tanman2001 is correct! I accidentally sent the wrong slab! I was working on an article for my local club on counterfeits and after scanning it for pictures set it on my desk. I, of course, grabbed it when I was in a hurry to get to work and off it went. My apologies to mcschilling, the forum, and rggoodie! I will forward a new gift to mcschilling as soon as possible and hopefully can retrieve what little is left of my reputation. Mcschilling, please accept my apologies and destroy the fake slab and coin before it causes anymore mischief!

There is a post here about Russian Empire 50 kopeck note issued in late First World War and early Provisional Government. I think you are more qualified to reply? I'm still waiting for a message from you, Carrigna. Which banknote do you mean? I did not find anything like this in this topic. Every time I see you guys getting certified coins, I get a little jealous of you guys. I especially liked the silver dollar, it's great.

Exactly! That's why I was using it as an example. They are both fake and non-magnetic to boot. The detail on the coin is not as sharp and the slab is faked to support the fake coin. I am sending a real one as a replacement and you'll be able to tell easily in comparison.

Thank you Jim, I lust got my 2024 ASE out and compared them and yes the details are not sharp that was the first thing that caught my eye, but looking at it alone it looked OK , side by side and there is a big difference. Never too old to learn but lets see if it stays in the old brain cells.

Would you be able to post a picture of both slabs side-by-side when possible so we can see the differences?
