yep, crazy volatility, wild swings up & down... but we know where the silver rocket is ultimately headed. we could see another crazy upward blast in the overnight session. we probably will.

Just an interesting observation I noticed tonight while checking the overnight markets.
Around the same time silver and gold took a dive, the rare earth metal ETF's saw a spike, a jump in price.
Rare earth metal funds hold stuff like lithium, tungsten and other critical metals and materials.
Not to be Mr doom and gloom but the fact that precious metals, rare earth and critical materials are spiking while the S&P and NASDAQ are selling off is not exactly a good sign.

Harry, can you elaborate on that a little bit?

interesting letter from the CEO on APMEX today, it's a banner on the home page, 'historic metals demand'... if you haven't seen it, it's worth a read. very interesting. maybe retail is now starting to jump in. this is what raised my eyebrows: Quote: We have instituted a $10K minimum to help keep volumes down and improve service levels.

Quote: Harry, can you elaborate on that a little bit? I don't want to write a few pages worth of theories, reasons and signs that we're seeing that indicate the poop might be closer to hitting the fan right now than ever before. But.. Some of it's already been touched on in previous posts both in this thread and the other popular silver thread in coin community. There appears to be a world-wide scramble right now to "secure" critical resources. From precious and critical metals to oil. The state of the U.S. dollar and potential collapse of fiat currency. Unimaginable debt. Banking and Economic instabilities. Geopolitical tensions all around the world. Russia, Ukraine, Europe, Iran, Israel, Palestine, China, Taiwan, Venezuela, Greenland, Colombia, etc. Money transferring into "safe haven" and hard assets instead of cash. I'm sure other's can add to this.

That is an interesting letter from the APMEX CEO. I did not realize that retail was seeing such a big increase in sales. Is anyone here buying at current prices?

I had a feeling reaching $100 this week was ambitious. Next week?

I was also a bit surprised to read that from APMEX at first, but then I remembered what it was like back in 2011 and how everybody (myself included) started buying silver after it hit $30 and then $40, thinking that if we didn't buy it now we would miss out if prices continued to rise and never went back down. Back then, of course, it ended up being a bit foolish since prices did go way back down shortly thereafter. This time, however, who knows? I'm personally satisfied with what I currently own and have no desire to buy anymore (especially at these prices), but I can't really blame those who think they need to jump in before prices go even higher.

I am somewhat confident that silver will stay above $80 for the long haul. I am even more confident it will stay above $70. But, I will not be upset if I am wrong. Time will reveal all. Clinging to the backside of 90 for now.

I've been told that LCS can't keep the 999 silver in stock, but are having trouble disposing of coin silver to the refiners, so are accumulating it.
Just for fun, I decided to see how coin silver is refined, and there a few ways. One of the simplest appears to be dissolving it in Nitric Acid, then adding copper to get pure silver, which is melted into bars. I'm not recommending setting this up in your backyard, as the process produces fumes and toxic waste, but it is not difficult in principle.
My LCS last week was selling Canadian Silver $ at 95% of spot, and there were still few takers.
It's not like the 80% and 90% silver is worthless, but is not very liquid at the moment. Obviously eventually it will be sellable, but at that point, what will the price of silver be?

It is a very oddly worded message and is being interpreted incorrectly. A pullback and bit of a breather is a good thing. Needs to set a base to continue upward. Things that go straight up also go straight down.
