Thanks Commems, The 2008 Bald Eagle releases of The Silver Dollars, The Clad Halfs, And The Gold Fractional, 1/10th, 1/4, 1/2 and The 1 Ounce, IMO are All Exquisite.. I have the Pleasure of Owning/Enjoying Almost all of these releases of 2008.... Imo, Some of these " Modern " Commemoratives are Very Well designed, Some not as Much.

ratio411, I moved your reply from the older topic to the active one. Quote: If you don't like, don't buy I definitely will not. Especially because they would have skipped over Reagan for him. ( See my earlier reply.)

Quote: The coin's proposal is destined to elicit strong reactions from all sides. To some extent, this is nothing new/unique. Back in 1963/1964, there were those who did not favor placing an image of John Fitzgerald Kennedy("JFK") on the Half Dollar and/or believed the measure to do so was being rushed through Congress. Granted, this camp was a small minority, but my point is that 100% agreement is a diffiu=cult goal to achieve.
Quote: accomplished more for America than Ronald Wilson Reagan? A Kirk commemorative coin before a Reagan commemorative coin? Are you kidding me? idk? I can think of a couple of folks 11,000+ ATC fired...then rub their nose in it and re-name an Airport after him. Quote: A commemorative coin—any commemorative coin—would be absurd, divisive, and inappropriate while the political climate is this volatile. Especially an A1 advocate for God-Family-Country. Quote: I am sorry it that sounds hyperbolic, but it has been on my mind since the beginning and I felt it finally had to be said Me too! If they make it...put me down for 2 smat

President John Kennedy had a similar "pet" in the early 1960's named Dr. Thomas Dooley or "Tom Dooley". Dr. Dooley worked in Vietnam in the 1950's as first a US Navy doctor and then as a civilian. He made frequent appearances on American television and wrote books supporting the Kennedy administration's policies in Vietnam. Like Charlie Kirk he died young. He was awarded a Congressional Gold Medal which was presented to his mother. Bronze copies of the medal were sold to the public. Quote: He was awarded a Congressional Gold Medal Yes. And let the Mint sell bronze versions as usual. But a commemorative coin? Still a hard and steadfast NO! We do not want to set that precedent.

Celebrity sainthood is a long-standing tradition. It won't be a shock to this observer if Mr. Kirk's image appears on a USM product in the next year or two.
Thanks in advance, commems, for keeping track of this saga.
