Quote: My bank in MI (Huntington) is only allowing purchase of cents by business accounts until they are gone I am also in MI and my credit union that we use, Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union, has several branches near me. Closest are in Madison Heights, my hometown, and then Royal Oak. I saw a teller at the RO branch that normally assists me with my coin roll madness at my hometown branch. ...He speculated that it doesn't look good for getting rolls of cents any longer. I don't know about other credit unions, but I would assume he was speaking merely about MSGCU. Sucks, as Lincoln Cent coin roll hunting has been by far my favorite. I love the thrill of trying to find wheat cents.

Enjoy it while you can. Soon, you will only have the memories and stories to tell your grandchildren.

I suspect once the rounding law is passed, Humanist129, cents will be like halves and brass dollars. They will be turned in and over time will pile up in bank vaults. I think banks will then sell what's available from customer returns.

I am not seeing that happening. Rounding will not be forced, just allowed. Cents will be used electronically forever and physically as long as they last. When they are gone, they are gone. There is no benefit to reclaim Zincolns. Let them rot.

The wife is a bookkeeper for a big box store and is the one that orders change from Loomis for them. She can no longer order cents from them now. She was my source for searching Lincolns, I would just have her order a couple extra boxes from time to time and now that is gone....
I'm actually surprised it took this long.

Quote: Should have happened in 1982 Right, the mint had it's chance by saying copper is too expensive so no more cents - but instead they started minting them darn zinc junkies.

Went to my Credit Union yesterday (N. Alabama) to turn in some Quarters and Nickels. Asked if I could get a box of pennies, teller said "Sure ,How many you want" "i Said just one". Not a problem here, yet. They were all Loomis Rolled. Here the Loomis boxes are starting to get a Loomis seal on them. Found 5 Wheats and 6 of the 2009 Lincoln Bicentennials.

Back in 1974, the price of copper skyrocketed due to market manipulation and people began hoarding cents. Some banks paid a 5% premium for rolls to encourage people to bring them in.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Here, north of Boston, I was just able to put in an order for four boxes of pennies through Salem Five bank. I'll continue to do so until it's totally cut off. Hoping for a few 2025 boxes to store away
