This is one of two that came into my LCS. Here are the facts: 12.3-12.4 grams, the weight of one type of stater. About 25 mm diameter. 99% + silver (tested). The photo is not that sharp, but there is very little wear and the design is quite sharp, almost too good. The edges have no seam, but do seem to be a bit tooled and unexpectedly regular. The surface has small pits and seems a bit smoothed in spots. I cannot yet find the coin this is supposed to be.

@ori, I can't speak to the authenticity, but it looks like a pretty decent match for a Stater of Pheneos. See this numista link for a similar piece, in even sharper condition: https://en.numista.com/475181

I am as concerned as for the other one. These are among the more beautiful coins in Ancient Greece. Here the style of the profile of Persephone is terribly ugly. This coin CANNOT be genuine. There also all the worries of the other coin: condition of the metal, absence of consistent wear.

Quote: This coin CANNOT be genuine. Of course it's not genuine...that's why I posted the link (which I fixed) to the other coin struck in "gold"...they are die matches. I made a composite of the reverse for comparison and as I already said, I am sure that the other coin is just as fake.

Thanks, everyone!
I will pass on these valuable opinions to the LCS.
PS: I wasn't thinking of buying them!

I made a composite of the reverse for comparison I would also add that this reverse does not match any of the auction examples in the Numista listing (this one has symmetric musculature on the torso, and non-parallel legs, unlike any of the presumably authentic examples).
