Quote:Lovely pair, walk2dwater! -Thanks @jbuck! @NumisRob love the first prefix £10 & £20 "crown" note (rather than denomination marker). Quote: I also have a 1991 Estonia 10 Krooni P-72a Another nice pick up from Estonia CB! I feel most people would fall in love with Tallinn but Estonia is a beautiful country filled with miles of green forests & incredible castles. If you have time, worth exploring. I got lucky & met an old university flatmate & some buddies: we rented a van & took a road trip to Vilnius, Lithuania. We also got to eyeball a lot of Riga, Latvia & we all enjoyed the local culture there too. It was an amazing road trip (which eventually influenced a lot of my pick ups). Back to 1991 banknotes! Here's P-13 a 1991 dated $10 from the Cayman Islands: Never been to the Caymans but thought they had nice beach scenes on their reverse. My 2nd note is P-154f another 100 Francs from France: I love the artwork on these French examples. My 3rd note is a 1991 dated $5.00 P-70d from Jamaica I worked in Jamaica from 1995-1996 but rarely saw this $5 note (as these were coins by then). The few I saw were scruffy rags. When I started collecting World notes, I was surprised how cheap banknotes from Jamaica seemed to be. I was wrong (of course). The cheapies were the dated notes (like the one pictured) but if you want the undated (early versions) they can be quite dear. Anyway, it is part of a set of notes I acquired after 2-3 years of searching.

Bank of England £5 1990: This note was introduced in 1990 to replace the larger £5 with the Duke of Wellington that had been circulating since 1971. The reverse shows railroad pioneer George Stephenson, his locomotive 'The Rocket', and a view of Skerne Bridge on the Stockton - Darlington Railway. This is the oldest railroad bridge in the world that is still in use, and there were major events to commemorate its 200th birthday last year!

Quote: Beautiful Bank of England note. with @scorpu & was going to post mine until I saw you beat me to it! 1990Here's a 20 Pesos P-133 from the Dominican Republic: It features the alter to the fatherland on the front and Puerta del Conde on the reverse. The DR has been one of our favourite islands to escape to (for a week) during the cold winter months. My 2nd entry for 1990 is this $20 P-55 from Belize: I have not seen so many animals featured on the back of a note until someone posted this note years ago here. It made me want to pick it up asap but (of course) it took more than a year before I found this one. I would love to visit this country some day (just to see some of these creatures would be fantastic).

Beautiful banknotes, everyone! I'm partial to the fort on the reverse of the Dominican Republic note and the beach scene on the Cayman Islands note. Quote: Another nice pick up from Estonia CB! That sounds like a fantastic trip! I would love to visit Estonia one day. I was all prepared to post my lone banknote for 1990, but as it turns out, I misattributed the Pick number and it's actually from 1995. So this is a gap year for me. I'll have to keep an eye out for a banknote from my next gap year in 1981.

A well-circulated 1990 10-rupee note from Sri LankaL This note is one of the 'Historical and Development' series of notes issued by Sri Lanka in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The note has inscriptions in Sinhala, Tamil and English. It features the Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa) in Kandy on the front, in horizontal format, and the Raja Maha Vihare Pagoda in Kelaniya on the reverse, in vertical format.

Was your note a £5 from Cyprus by any chance? Quote: Interesting--I've got an undated $1 note from Jamaica to post tomorrow. I'm looking forward to seeing your Jamaican $1.00 @Spence In the meantime, if you like notes from Jamaica, may I suggest a gander at this thread? https://en.numista.com/forum/topic163655.html Quote: This note is one of the 'Historical and Development' series of notes issued by Sri Lanka in the late 1980s and early 1990s. I really like the vertical format found on notes from Sri Lanka @NumisRob: they were pioneers in that regards! I hope to add a few of mine (from Ceylon) in the next week or so.

Quote: A well-circulated 1990 10-rupee note from Sri LankaL Nice Sri Lankan banknote, NumisRob! I enjoy notes with interesting buildings. Quote: -I've done that! Was your note a £5 from Cyprus by any chance? No unfortunately I don't have any notes from Cyprus yet, but thanks to your site I know to keep an eye out for their pre-Euro notes! I was going to post a Yemen 20 Rials P-25, which I had misattributed as a P-26. Two completely different reverse designs, so I don't know how I mixed them up.

Interesting thread that you linked to @walk. Thx for helping me learn something today. Now I'm just hoping that I've got the attribution right and look forward to everyone's input tomorrow.

Starting 1989 with a popular classic - Costa Rica 5 colones: The front of this colorful note shows Rafael Yglesias Castro (1861-1924), a Costa Rican politician who served as President for two consecutive periods from 1894 to 1902. To his right you can see the Costa Rican National Flower, the purple orchid (Guaria Morada). The reverse shows an extract from a painting by Aleardo J. Villa, on the ceiling of the National Theater in San Jose. Dating from 1897, it is known as the Allegory of Coffee and Bananas, as it shows these freshly harvested on the right and being loaded onto a sailing ship for export on the left. Coffee and bananas have long been the main exports of Costa Rica. When I first visited Costa Rica in 1984, this type of note was in general circulation, and it was strange that such a beautiful colorful note was worth only a little more than a dime!

Quote: Interesting thread that you linked to @walk. Thx for helping me learn something today. -always a pleasure! Quote: When I first visited Costa Rica in 1984 -Wow! That must have been something. We went in 2016 & we were blown away (on so many levels). Great classic note (reminds me I need to go nuke my coffee!) Quote: Looking forward to the Jamaican note, walk2dwater! Well, lets get to it then: 1989This P-72c $20.00 from Jamaica cost me well under $10USD in UNC. Why? B/C it is dated & come from large dealer stock bins (I'd imagine). P-72 started being issued in 1985. The 1989, 1991 & 1995 (the year I worked there) happened to make up the lion's share of this issue. When it comes to the $20, you want to snag a P-68 "Jamaica Act" version (tough) or the 1976 P-63 "no date" issue (rare-ish, esp in high grades)! (Incidentally, they feature Noel "Crab" Nethersole on the front & the central bank on the reverse). My 2nd entry is P-55a £10 from Cyrpus. CB, I thought you might appreciate the pretty birds portrayed on the reverse. Now back to my coffee
