Hello,

I found this Japanese 10 sen a few days ago during a local fair, and was intrigued by the strange lump of metal on the reverse.
What would it be? Maybe a repair after being removed from a jewel?

Thank you for any idea!

Very interesting. My initial thought is some form of repair, yes.

to the CCF, Carmack!
Yes, your coin looks like it was once used as jewelry or perhaps a button.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

To CCF! With Hondo Boguss. It's damage ( PMD).

Yes, this is a coin that was turned into a button, then crudely turned back into a coin again.

to CCF.
Not sure if it was a button, I'm not seeing and repairs on the obverse, maybe a pin was silver soldered on it to create a broach or something.
