As you can see, this 1999 cent was struck off center and while looking at it, I noticed the metal displacement caused by the strike. Even though the strike is significantly off center, most all of the devices still ended up on the planchet. That made me want to ask the question,,,, What happens to the collar during an off center strike? Does it break or fail to deploy? Thanks for your comments.
Well there is a lot of movement of the bust and some of it is off the planchet. Usually there would be a nice wide gap from the bust to the rim. This might be why it loos like it didn't fall off the edge more.
