It is for circulation.

Agreed and once the current President leaves the next one may change it back and start making pennies again, you just never know people love their pennies.
I doubt it. The next president will have more pressing matters. On the list of things to undo, the cent is not even in the first volume. And almost no one will even care about the circulating cent in 2029, having adapted to its absence by then.

Well there is a pre seller on ebay right now is offering the 2026 PDS pennies for $449.88 and he has sold one believe it or not. He also has the uncirculated set for $499.88 even higher. Glad I got mine for far less.

I wonder if people thought that about the SBA Dollar in 1981

No one was thinking about the SBA in 1980, let alone 1981.

They must have hit the 190k limit. The page lets you add the subscription, but checkout says it's not available and forces you to remove it.

Not surprising to me anyways that they have reached there limit 190k sets are not that many especially considering the dime half dollar will change in 2027 making it a one year only coin with the dual date.

ebay presellers are wanting a heap of money for these uncirculated sets the 3 pennies and the proof set. Hard to tell what the market will be for these at the end of the year.

They have no reason to stick with Zinc. They have every reason to use 95% copper for the NCLT cent. However, I have to assume they have every intention of not doing what makes sense.

Agreed it would cost more to go back to copper so they are thinking more of profit versus collector wants.

JBuck, I'm not sure that it's true that

Presumably, the contracts (typically IDIQ) that they had with the copper planchet producer and the copper-plated zinc planchet producer (Jarden or whatever they are known as) are still valid.

Quote:
Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract. The Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), located at Title 48 of the Code of Federal Regulations, defines an IDIQ contract as one that "provides for an indefinite quantity, within stated limits, of supplies or services during a fixed period. The Government places orders for individual requirements."

But with those contracting vehicles in place, they can order either!

Interesting.

I hope they defer to collector desire.

I could be wrong here even though the 2026 Lincoln cents are NIFC coins I believe that there enough collectors to make all 3 pennies very valuable. In 2025 the S proof pennies were fetching anywhere from $150.00 to over $2900.00 for the most expensive penny. Not talking about the Omega ones just pennies from the clad and silver proof sets around 425k sets were made of both. The P and D pennies this year are limited to only 190k. I am putting it out there that the P-D-S 2026 pennies will bust new records. I am planning on hiring a couple of friends to buy the limit on all sets that contain 2026 pennies because even though mint is charging over 400% more then the year before they will still be well worth it.
