The guy in the video claims that an XRF machine will penetrate the silver plating and detect the fake. Can that possibly be true? Most radio techniques that I am aware of do not penetrate deeply into metal.

There was no mention of the diameter and thickness being within specs. It is scary to see that the magnet reacts as it should and the weight is spot on. The Chinese have certainly improved upon alloys that mimic the real deal but I don't understand how copper could weigh correctly if the diameter and thickness is also within specs. Is the silver plating so thick that it makes up the difference? This is a real problem if it can fool the Sigma and experts.

I don't understand why the magnet test would fail. Silver and copper are both diamagnetic. I thought that was the whole reason for clad replacing silver—the new clad coins had to respond identically to silver coins in the magnet-based rejection systems of existing vending machines.
