Just got in a 7070 page 6 (Gold page) for my Dansco album

It cost me $99.00 - the cheapest I have seen in a long time
Now we'll see if I'm able to actually afford to place coins in it.

Well, sir, you have thrown a gauntlet to yourself. It's a brave thing to start buying gold coins when commodities are so hot.

Also, the page is $99? I feel like I need to go into the Dansco page business!

You have indeed set yourself up for a financial challenge with gold hovering at ~5K/ounce.

I look forward to seeing you fill some of those holes.

Why does the lower left margin say "7070 Page 5".

yeah, a bit expensive, but they were selling for almost #300.00 on the after market - when I saw this one, I had to grab it.

Well at some point, Dansco added a new page 5 to showcase the Bicentennial coins.

Yes. The first 7070s only had four pages with an optional fifth page for gold.

They later included a fifth page in the album for bicentennial and then SBA. The current version of this page also has "modern" coins—Sac dollar, statehood dollar, commemorative silver dollar, and ASE.

I guess they never bothered to change the page number for the optional gold page and decided to use page 6 for the new modern page...

There is a pink cat who is a member here that can provide you with some guidance on doing that.

It's a long ride to Key West, and the competition is pretty fierce down there, from what I hear.

Out of curiosity, I calculated the amount of change that needs to be picked up off the streets and sidewalks to fill the gold page. This is bullion value only, not numismatic. The price of gold from my check a few minutes ago was $5,185.30/oz, which is what I used in the calculation.

Coin # of coins in 7070 Oz. Gold (per coin) Bullion Cost
$1 2 0.0484 $501.73
$2.50 2 0.120951109 $1,254.34
$5 2 0.24187 $2,508.34
$10 2 0.48375 $5,016.78
$20 2 0.9675 $10,033.56

Total $19,314.74

Hmmm... if you average $1/night, it would take you 52 years to complete the purchases. You need to get that bike up and running ASAP, Dearborn!

3.7165 troy ounces of gold in the 7070. I should have gotten in when it was $500 an ounce.

Just hang out around the McDonalds drive thru window! People are always dropping their change.
