yeah, that about sums it up Hondo.
First thing I have to do is stop buying coins for a while (especially from the mint) This really stinks.

I would have thought there would be big demand in that field. Hope you find something soon.

Bum deal......sorry to hear that! What about just taking early SS retirement? Would that be enough to make it on along with your Navy pension?

@ Dearborn , absolutely sucks when job loss happens . A word of encouragement though. It is true that when a door slams shut a new one opens . You can use your skills and abilities to come out stronger or move in a different direction . You are never too old! Chin up ! You will survive this ! I got my sorry self fired from a company back in the early 1980s as they were downsizing due to a bad economy! Within a year , opened a coin shop in addition to finding another job , never looked back !

Been there, done that, twice. The whole process is stressful and frustrating. I don't know the precise level of reduction for early Social Security benefits, but you should be eligible. Keep in mind that you can also work part time up to a certain level of income, which might open up additional work options. My advice is to take a little bit to process the shock. My first time, I jumped right into the next job, and I don't think I did my emotional health any favors by keeping it all bottled up.

Quote: I don't know the precise level of reduction for early Social Security benefits, but you should be eligible. Keep in mind that you can also work part time up to a certain level of income Yeah, already thought of that. If I don't file for SSI until I'm 70 years old, I'll get $2660 a month, if I file now, I'll only get $1600 I think I'll file for SSDI (I'm already rated at 100% disabled with the VA) first and hope I can weather the storm for a year then get a small job then wait for my 7-th BD. Thanks Pacificoin and Nickelsearcher for the kind words. depending on how things go, I may open a fund assist page to get help - I have nobody else that can help I things get dire.

Don't want to dig into things which are not my business...my apologies in advance. Was your work limited to serving the greater Phoenix metro area, or was it wider in scope--Southwest US, all US, global? With the current push to construct and operate massive (really massive) AI-related data centers, one would hope there might be opportunities out there just yet. Hang in there!

I retired early at 55 , did a few small jobs but it was the best thing I did, was not happy at the old job. Yes if I had stayed longer I could have got a better OAS and CPP payments but that meant working over 5 more years, no thanks. You will get through this I'm sure.
