It varies State to State whether one can collect UI benefits while awaiting SSDI approval. $360 per week could help maintain buying coins & stuff, just throwing that out there. You can also join the United Fedeation of Teachers which would have you become eligible for a few benefits such as estate planning and even some supplemental health insurances in case you ever need it. And to add to the silver lining, if you are now making under $70,000 a year you are eligible for free tax prep. The non-profit that does it here and very well is Urban Upbound but just search for a provider under the VISTA program which funds this benefit. VISTA is a federal government entity.
