Quote: Yes it will, but with my 100% VA rating, I get expedited filing and my take only 5 months vs years... and I'll be taking UI but that is only $360 a week and only lasts 24 weeks It is just a hold over I guess until a job is found (for job seekers, that is) .... It varies State to State whether one can collect UI benefits while awaiting SSDI approval. $360 per week could help maintain buying coins & stuff, just throwing that out there.

There could be a conflict between UI and SSDI though - UI wants me to be actively looking for full time work, and SSDI stated that I cannot work AT ALL for the first year.

In the event you find a good company to work for, you can always cancel your SSDI application.

Yes, that is very true. So, I'm playing everything by ear at the moment. I'll be keeping a close eye on my finances to see how far they will take me. Then making an informed decision as to which direction I will go.

Lot of good advice these last couple of days...what's that saying-- "every cloud has a silver lining" I guess you/we just have to look for it. When I went through a job loss (several years ago) I had to tell myself "I can't drive 2 trucks at the same time" you know what I mean...Keep busy, stay happy

Quote: I had to tell myself "I can't drive 2 trucks at the same time" you know what I mean funny you should say that - I DO have 2 trucks right now. a 2002 Chevy 2500HD 4x4 LT pick up truck with a 8.1 liter engine paired with an Allison tranny that I use ( used for work, and a 2020 Chevy 2500HD 4x4 LT Pick-Up Truck with a nit large 6.6 liter engine that I use for personal travel and shopping. The 2002 truck is up for sale now that I'm no longer working.. Quote: Keep busy, stay happy I'm trying.

As I posted earlier consider substitute teaching after your year is up. You can also join the United Fedeation of Teachers which would have you become eligible for a few benefits such as estate planning and even some supplemental health insurances in case you ever need it.
And to add to the silver lining, if you are now making under $70,000 a year you are eligible for free tax prep. The non-profit that does it here and very well is Urban Upbound but just search for a provider under the VISTA program which funds this benefit. VISTA is a federal government entity.

I'm sure you'll figure it out. looks like you have a lot of support here, so I'm thinking you're gonna be just fine. you still have a lot going for you & it seems you have many friends who'll lend an assist if needed. don't let it get you down. the cat and I are pulling for you! ...ehhh... well, when he's finished washing his butt he'll be pulling for you...
