I got these from a bill changer in the Denver mint gift shop earlier this week.

Looking good.

The reverse design reminds me of the 1920/1921 Pilgrim half dollar, with the Mayflower on the high seas.

There appears to be a "D" mint mark on both obverse and reverse. Why is that? Or is one of those a designers monogram?

I'm guessing one is a designer's or engraver's initial.

I suppose that would be a good place to find some of the latest mintage.

Am I seeing a possible clash or just making something out of nothing?

That's really cool to get a 2026 coin so early into the new year!

I don't know, though... looks kinda ugly to me. Too busy. I dislike the tall fonts. And "LIBERTY" is nearly impossible to see as it's camouflaged by the water.

But I will reserve further judgement until I have one in my mitts.

As an avid non-USA coin enthusiast, I could fairly easily pull a dozen
random coins with a nearly identical image. British halfpennies, anyone?
This is quite a 'change' from traditional USA issues featuring deceased
old politicians and birds of prey, but I do wish the design did not look so familiar.

Kind cheating getting a D 2026 coin directly from the Denver mint
At least it was from the change machine and not a purchased souvenir set.

The use of " 25¢ " vs. "quarter dollar" seems to vary from quarter to quarter, without any general rule. . .even the hideous mess of the Jovita Idar manged to squeeze "quarter dollar" into the design.
In the case of the Mayflower, spelling out the denomination would have made it too "busy."

The "D" on the reverse gives credit to Cyrus E. Dallin, who designed the reverse of the 1920 Pilgrim Half shown above, which was the basis of the 2026 Mayflower Compact quarter. Phebe Hemphill was the sculptor.
