1990-D Quarter - Hole Error? Please Help!

I wonder if there was a broken die holder. The hole on the quarter has affected the "In God We Trust" lettering. This is clearly a mechanical issue at the time it was minted. I have seen other identical square holes in coins going back a century. Could it be damage from an older press malfunctioning? Any thoughts would be welcome. I did notice the coin has a slight double stamp and is just off center. Is it worth having this coin graded and slabbed? Report this Post to the Staff
