Man, I really want to start one of these. But... The prices right now are ridiculous. I'm not paying 200 dollars on ebay for one!

I see myself being more and more fascinated with older coins, but not at a level that I would want to start working on a barrage of various sets of them. That would be FAR too costly. My Shield and Liberty nickels already take up a large portion of cost for me personally.

That's where a 7070, or a kind of type set in general, would be pretty cool honestly. A kind of one catch all album, just to get a taste of various coinage without having to collect every single coin.

I could always do a kid of "2x2" album I suppose. But, honestly, I hate fiddling with various 2x2 holders, staples, etc. It's just not really my thing.

I know Whitman has a type set album. I feel like it kinda leaves a little bit to be desired in some cases, though. And the quality of their albums isn't quite on par with Dansco.
I really want to shop around for older coins.

Anybody? I guess I'll wait to find the best deal.

My LCS has several in stock for about $65 (including tax). I also see them for sale at just about every coin show for about $55.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

I bought my last Dansco album years ago, and I doubt I'll ever buy another.
Why? Because Whitman, Littleton, and several others have figured out that thumb knockouts are very, very helpful. Especially with albums that are decades old, it is sometimes very difficult to remove Dansco slides. So difficult that not damaging the book while getting them can be a real challenge. I don't understand why the de facto king of coin albums hasn't incorporated this simple improvement.

That said, I'm glad I have a 7070. I sold a spare on ebay a few years ago for less than $80. Wow, the price really IS absurd now!

Well, this generous person is giving free shipping!

They are obtainable at more realistic prices. Save a search on ebay with a maximum you're willing to pay, and be notified by email when one is posted.

Note: the above sold at auction just two days ago, with just one bid.

You can start buying the coins now to scratch the itch. You do not need an album, just 2x2s to protect the coins and a box to keep them in. Do that while you wait for Dansco to get the 7070 rolling out again. Imagine the fun putting 20 or 30 coins in the album as soon as you got it!

The price of the page corresponds to the price of the coins.
