I tried to find the new post link on the new persons forum without success, so here I am. My name is Joanne, I'm okay with my first name is posted but not my last name. I've collected pennies in the pass but I had other things to do in my life. Now that I am retired and have more free time on my hands I thought I would give coin collecting another go. I also have a stamp collection with thousands of stamps. I collect USA, Russia, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland. My new coin collection will focus on US and Ancient coins. As my user name suggests, I have Empty Pockets. I noticed there is a paper currency forum so I'm going to post a few bills I have concern with. May your pockets always be full of coins. Joanne

Thank you for the warm welcome. I like these community websites, as I'm also a member of a stamp collecting forum.

Fellow Floridian here. Although I've lived here most of my years I couldn't place North Port, so I looked it up (60 miles south of Tampa). I'm also pretty new here, as you can see from my post count. I've been trying to learn how to take decent coin photos, and reading a lot to glean what I can from the combined knowledge here.
So, hello from east of Panama City!

I've had a chance to check out the forum, read a little bit about coin collecting and contemplating my collection. I've bought three books, The Red Book and The Official Red Book: A Guide Book of Modern United States Proof Coin Sets and The Official Red Book: A Guide Book of Lincoln Cents. I don't want to get overwhelmed by the huge amount of collecting I can do so I'm going to limit my collection at first. To start I'm going to limit my collection to the Lincoln Cents, Proof Sets and Ancient Civilization Coins. I don't think I will buy Ancients too often but I am interested in learning about them. I'm going to use Littleton Coin Club Lincoln Cents at first to learn about what I am looking at and when I get comfortable enough I will look for other sources. I don't want to start a new thread in the main forum so I'm going to post here in my newbie thread.

Seems you've got a plan. And it seems like (coming from another newbie here), CCF is a good source of info and answers.

to CCF Coin Forums. There are plenty of resources here for you to utilize. We also have a Stamp Forum as well that you can sign up for. Look here for that section - (it is completely separated from the coin side of collecting https://www.stampcommunity.org/Quote: I'm going to use Littleton Coin Club Lincoln Cents at first to learn about what I am looking at and when I get comfortable enough I will look for other sources. Well when you are ready, there is Numista to use as well - it is a GREAT resource - one that I use everyday. https://en.numista.com

Got my first selection of Littleton Coin Club of Penny's this week. They sent me the 2009 Lincoln bicentennial pennies in 3 different formats; Colorized with acrylic paint, Gold plated and normal. I got a total of 24 coins. Here are the penny sampling; on top is the gold plated, the middle is uncirculated, the third is colorized.
